Ressie Irene (Short) Anders, age 83, of Mount Gilead, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Morrow County Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Raven, Virginia on September 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Gertie Elkins Short.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle E. Anders; a son, Alvin E. Webb; a granddaughter, Laura Wells; one great granddaughter and one great grandson; former husband Junior G. Webb, the father of her children; former husband Claude Lockhart; seven brothers: Hubert, Clayton, Junior, Mervin, Vernon, Dallas, Amos Short; and one sister, Omie Short. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Galion.
Ressie is survived by her children: Rose W. Hollenbaugh and husband Charles of North East, Maryland, Ann Lewis and husband David of Mount Gilead, Ohio, Jessie B. Webb of Shelby, Ohio, Helen L. Mahon and husband Dan of Shelby, Ohio, Susan J. Webb of Marion, Ohio, Sandra L. Wells and husband Michael of Carrollton, Georgia and a stepdaughter, Linda Maggard and husband Jim of Claypool Hill, Virginia; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ressie’s family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, Ohio. Services honoring her life will be held there on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Grady McGlothlin of Richlands, Virginia officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jayson Webb, Coalton Webb, Wesley Mahon, Derick Mahon, Scott Wells, and Craig Lewis.
