Robert David “Bobby” Charles, 24, of Cardington

Robert David “Bobby” Charles, age 24, of Cardington, died unexpectedly early on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2011, from injuries sustained in a four wheeler accident.

On July 19, 1987, Bobby was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the son of John Charles and Mary (DeBolt) Charles Darnell.

Having attended several of the schools in Morrow County, Bobby received his GED after attending Tri-Rivers Career Center.

From the time Bobby was little, it was obvious that he loved “anything with a motor”.   He could always be found working on his four wheeler, and his family knew if they needed anything fixed on their cars to simply “take it to Bobby.”  He even gladly helped a stranger that got lost and ended up with his car broken down at Bobby’s house, fixing his car and sending him on his way not asking for a penny for his time and efforts.

Not only did he enjoy working on cars, but he was also an avid NASCAR fan.  He loved attending races and enjoyed rooting on his favorite driver, Tony Stewart, and he even recently enjoyed attending an Indy Car race.

Well known for his love of music, Bobby could often be heard long before you saw him coming down the road.

With a love for animals, Bobby was always bringing home stray dogs and cats, making sure they were well taken care of and had a good home.

Spending the majority of his time outdoors, Bobby had dreams of starting his own lawn care and landscaping business.

Bobby will forever be remembered for his big heart and for his smile, as he “was smiling all the time.”  He had a fun loving personality, keeping everyone laughing all the time.  Truly, everyone who knew him couldn’t help but to love him.

Bobby will be dearly missed by his mother, Mary (Leonard) Darnell of Cardington; father, John (Teresa Mackie) Charles, of Cardington; son, Andrew Joseph Nemeth of Marion; brother, Stephen (Danielle Chafin) Charles of Cardington; step sister, Shannon Haycraft of Cardington; paternal grandmother, Joyce Charles of Cardington; maternal grandmother, Martha DeBolt of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; maternal grandfather, Walter (Wanda) DeBolt of Jacksonville, Florida; aunts: Helen (David) Carter of Bush, Louisiana, and Michelle Furne of Tularosa, New Mexico; uncle, CW02 Corey DeBolt of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Sherman Charles; and by his brother, Jay Bradley Hill.

The Charles family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services paying tribute to his life will also be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m., with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Andrew Nemeth Scholarship Fund to help pay for his son's education, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Bobby's family, and you may express your condolences to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
