Ronald D. Williams, age 71, of 3189 Harding Hwy. W., Marion, Ohio, ended his journey on Tuesday September 12, 2011.
He was born August 12, 1940, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Clyde D. and Carol Belle (Clark) Williams.
He was a member of the Y-Men Service Club, the Marion Camera Club, Whetstone Woodcarvers, and Big Island Seniors Group.
He was employed by the Whirlpool Corporation of Marion as a die setter for 42 years.
Ron was an avid Buckeye fan and a loyal follower of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and had many creative hobbies including woodcarving, furniture making, the art of stained glass, and his latest love of photography, focusing on nature and children.
Ron is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nina Williams of Marion; daughters Amy Beth Alexander of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Megan Jo Wilcox (Scott) of Key West, Fla.; stepson Tom Lowry (Paula) and stepdaughter Angie Borland, both of Marion; three brothers, Robert Williams (Marilyn) of Kenton, Ohio, Ralph Williams (Karen) of Tiffin, Ohio, and Raymond Williams of Kenton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Joan Williams of Delphos, Ohio, and Helen Williams of Kenton, Ohio; grandsons Brice Lowry of Marion and Zachary Wilcox of Key West, Fla.; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Dawn Bowker (Chris) of Taylor Mill, Ky., Kylie Borland, Allison Borland, and Sharai Lowry, all of Marion; great-grandchildren Yeteva Marie Bowker and Scarlett Oaklief. He is also survived by his furry companion Juno.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yeteva (Leigh) Williams, brothers Clark Williams and Russell Williams, and sisters Mabel Williams, Ava Elsasser, and Helen Whittaker.
Ron, you will be truly missed by your wife, your children, your grandchildren, your family, and your many friends. You have impacted and inspired so many people. You taught us about living life to the fullest, despite decreasing vision and increasing physical limitations. We watched you climb mountains and, when they were too high, we saw your determination take you through them. We learned about creativity and how to find beauty in the simple gifts of nature. We experienced and remain inspired by your ability to embrace the joys in life while gracefully facing numerous obstacles. We learned about your great character, which developed from hard work, long suffering, and endurance. We saw the strength of the Hand of God come upon you, and learned the importance of family. We learned about blending families into one loving family – all members being equal. We experienced the fruits of the Holy Spirit in the gentle simplicity of your lifestyle. You were love, joy, peace, patience, understanding, kindness, gentleness, and self control. As you enter into the presence of the loving family members who have gone before you – into a life of peace, without suffering – we use your familiar word of parting, “Later!”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marion General Hospice and Y-Men Service Club.
Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Richland Road Church of Christ 525 Richland Road, Marion, Ohio. Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Richland Road Church of Christ.
