Weiley L. Litzenberg of Marion passed away at home on September 8, 2011. He was born in Woodbine, PA., on September 12, 1930, to Leotte and Mary Litzenberg.
A graduate of Butler High School, Butler, PA., Weiley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He was employed for 38 1/2 years by Eaton Corporation where he served as supervisor of Design Engineering for 21 years.
Upon his retirement, Weiley set up a wood shop in his basement where he created furniture and crafts for all of the family. He also enjoyed making bullets for his trips to the rifle range. A kind and gentle man, he never shot anything but paper targets. He entertained the family with his many jokes and puns and retained his sense of humor during his long illness.
Weiley is survived by his wife of 30 years, Madelyn (Calovini), his four children: Deanna (Del) Slauterbeck of Willard, Eric (Mary Smith) of Bucyrus, Gretchen DeClerk of Cabot, AR., and Mark of Bucyrus: four stepchildren: Sheryl (Rick) Krassow of Upper Sandusky, Terry (Chris) Burga of Powell, Tim (Myrna) Burga of Westerville, and Linda (Dave) Lindsey of Marion: grandchildren Robby, D.J., Nick, Kourtni, Rachel, Brittany, Brian, Roberto, and one great-grandchild, Louie. Weiley is also survived by his sisters: Kathleen Daugherty and Sister Georgia Litzenberg, SC, and sister-in-law Arlene Litzenberg all of Pennsylvania.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Art and Eric and grandson Eric Litzenberg.
A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Weiley will be remembered in a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Lafferty, Ohio at a later date.
The family wants to thank Dr. Michael Hayes and his staff and the Marion General Hospital Hospice staff for their care and kindness during his illness.
