Kathleen Ann Granger, 81, formerly of Marion

Kathleen Ann Granger, 81, formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away Friday, September 29, 2011 at WillowBrook Christian Village, Delaware, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 6, 1930, in Napoleon, Ohio, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (King) Thome.

She and her husband of 62 years, Paul F. Granger, resided in Marion until 1986, before retiring to Sarasota, FL, for 16 years, returning to Lewis Center, Ohio, in 1999.

She was the proud mother of nine children, a homemaker, educator, mentor and friend. She lived with great enthusiasm and an unguenchable thirst for life. With confidence and patience she strived to better herself and others with frienship, community service and integrity. She overcame the hardships of life with prayer, faith, optimism and hard work.

She was active in TWIG of Marion General Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Marion, Ohio., and St. Mary's Class of 1948. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, Bradenton, FL. an active member of the choir. She was an avid golfer and the Marion Country Club's Women's B- Flight Champion. She was a licensed real estate broker and helped establish and manage the Paul Granger Real Estate Company of Marion, Ohio.

Surviving are her husband, Paul; her children, Dr. Colleen (Jim) Hagen of Chicago, Il., Paul A. (Laura) Granger of Santa Barbara, CA., Dr Kevin (Cindy) Granger of Reynoldsburg, OH., Dr. Jeff (Carol) Granger of Columbus, OH., Hon. Teresa Ballinger (John Shank) of Marion, Ohio., Kelly (Lori) Granger of Middletown, OH., Dr. Beth (Tom) O'Reilly of Westerville, OH., and Brad (Rhonda) Granger of Delaware, OH., 21 Grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, her sisters Karen (Jack, deceased) Russ of Buckeye Lake, Ohio., and Madonna (Bob) Cook of LaRue. OH., 2 sisters-in-law, Marian (Kenneth, deceased) Thome of Marion, OH. and Judy (Francis, deceased) Thome of Bradenton, FL.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, October 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St Mary Church. 251 North Main Street, Marion with Father Michael Nimocks officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary's Cemetery. Family will recieve friends from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with parish prayers at 2:00 p.m.
