Marcella Spurgeon, age 85, of Marion passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Marion General Hospital.
Born September 12, 1929 in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Leonard and Bertha (Gibson) Newell.
She was joined in marriage on February 26, 1949 to the late Virgil Spurgeon who died November 25, 1991.
She enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren. Surviving Marcella are one son Virgil (Jackie) Spurgeon Jr. of Marion, one daughter Margaret A. Davis of Marion, four grandchildren William (Krista) Davis, James (Jamie) Davis of Marion, Jerry (Heidi) Spurgeon of Dayton, Brandon Spurgeon of Sandusky, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Marcella was also preceded in death by three brothers, James, Richard, Franklin Newell, and one sister Delores Caudill.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Marcellus de Oliveira officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
