Bruce Vincent Eastman, 81, of Whetstone River Road

Bruce Vincent EastmanBruce Vincent Eastman, 81, of Whetstone River Road, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014, at his home.  The son of Earnest A. and Katharine T. (Ritchie) Eastman, he was born on March 31, 1933, in Mansfield, Ohio.

A 1951 graduate of Harding High School in Marion, he was an engineer at Whirlpool Appliances for 26 years prior to his retirement in 1981.  He served his country in the military as an airman of the U.S. Naval Air Corps from 1951-1955.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a wonderful friend and neighbor to many.  He was a creative man who enjoyed working with metals and wood at his home shop.

On August 1, 1953, he married Norma Lou Dyer in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marion.  She preceded him in death, on November 27, 2011.  Others who preceded him in death include his son D. Vincent Eastman on December 9, his father (1974), mother (1967), Brother David Duane Eastman (1948) and Sister Dianne Ritchie Eastman (2013).

Survivors include his children:  Scott (Mark) Eastman of San Francisco, California, Brian (Susan) Eastman of Columbus, and Dr. Amy Eastman of Columbus; his grandchildren:  Rick (Amy), Zakary (Beth), Katie, Andrea and Emily, and his great grandsons: Skylar and Aidan, and his surrogate great-granddaughter Emmaline.

Friends and family are invited to call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion on Monday, December 22, between 4 and 8 p.m.  Bruce will be laid to rest at the Claridon   Cemetery on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
