Agnes “Big Red” Davis, 77, of Marion

Agnes “Big Red” DavisAgnes “Big Red” Davis, age 77, of Marion, died peacefully early Friday morning, July 8, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family following a brief battle with cancer.

Agnes was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 17, 1939, where after high school she attended the Burdett School of Business.

On June 26, 1959, Agnes married Allan L. Davis in Boston, Massachusetts, and together they shared over thirty two years of marriage, lovingly raising four children.  He preceded her in death on July 6, 1991.

For many years, Agnes stayed at home to care for her husband and children, as her children were growing up.  Later, she worked as a customer service phone representative for Verizon in Marion.

Having a huge heart for animals, Agnes especially loved birdwatching, spreading bird feeders all around the house so she could watch them out almost every window.  She also loved her canine companion, Max.

Agnes was well known for many reasons…her red hair, her feisty, spunky and stubborn personality, her love of Pepsi, her love of crossword puzzles, and most of all for her love for her family.

She will be dearly missed by her beloved longtime companion of over twenty years, Don Tolle; three sons: Jim Davis, Russell (Melinda) Davis, and Chad Davis; and twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Including her husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Davis Holmes.

Her family will greet friends from 9 – 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016, at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W. Center St., Marion.  Services honoring her life will follow at her graveside in Marion Cemetery with Pastor Brett Cornelius officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017.

Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve Agnes’ family and your condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
