Eleanor Rose (Peters) Van De Bogart, of Marion, went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2016 at Kingston of Marion.
Eleanor was born September 1, 1924 to Elmer and Vivian Peters in Blacklick, Ohio. She grew up in the Gahanna, Ohio area where she graduated from Lincoln High School, May 22, 1942.
Eleanor spent 18 years working at Defense Construction Supply Corporation even after the war. All this time she was pursuing her passion, music and became accomplished on the accordion, violin, organ, and piano. With all this activity Eleanor always took time to be with her family and friends.
Eleanor turned a new page in her life celebrating Christmas by marrying Cecil Van De Bogart, December 24, 1961 after he had asked 5 times. They started life together in Marion, Ohio and never had the desire to move anywhere else except to travel.
Eleanor and Cecil were members of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church where she contributed in worship by playing the organ and piano for many years. Some of us were fortunate to have Eleanor play at our weddings.
Many trips south changed when they both retired in 1985 and bought a house in Matlacha, Florida and spent the winters there enjoying fishing and the warm days. In 2006 they returned to year around living in Marion not missing the long drive. Eleanor, the quiet one, constantly did her best to be a devoted wife, relative, and friend and was loved and will be missed by all.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, her parents, and brothers, Norman, Marvin, and Warren, and niece Hally Peters. She is survived by sisters- in-law, Lois Adams and Wanda Peters and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She had constant loving care her last years by Margaret Fisher.
We who loved her look forward to meeting her and all God’s Family in heaven. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kingston of Marion and Marion General Ohio Health Hospice for the wonderful care Eleanor received.
Friends may call at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home from 12 noon until 1 pm Monday, July 11, 2016. A 1 pm funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Pastor Thérèse Lehman officiating. Burial will follow at The Jefferson Township Cemetery in Blacklick, Ohio.
