Nancy R. Davis Terry, 83, of Marion

Nancy R. Davis Terry, age 83, of Marion, died peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Kobacker House in Columbus, following an extended illness.

On October 15, 1932, Nancy was born in Wolf County, Kentucky, one of ten children to the late Buford and Dovie Mae (Poe) Puckett.

In the late 1940’s, Nancy and her husband, Ray Davis, moved to Marion for his work.  During those times, she stayed at home as a loving homemaker, caring for Ray and their three children.

After her children were raised, Nancy worked at Marion General Hospital in the laundry services department for over 10 years, until her retirement in 1994.

Getting a second chance at love, Nancy married Harold Terry on January 14, 1982.  Their time together was much too short, as he preceded her in death on December 16, 1987.

Having a fondness for the outdoors, Nancy enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.  She also had a huge heart for animals, and enjoyed making quilts as gifts for her beloved family.

A woman of her generation, Nancy was a strong willed and independent woman, who took pride in caring for herself through many heartaches and tragedies.  Her family will always admire her for her strength.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Brenda (John Jr.) McGowan of Marion; four grandchildren: Lesa Jenkins of Richmond, KY, Trudy (Billy) Kelly of Cynthia, KY, David (Amy) McGowan of Marion, and John McGowan III of Florida; four great-grandchildren: Derek Jenkins, Brandon, Austin, Kaden and Josselyn McGowan; four siblings: Ethel Dunn of Marion, Bertha Howard of Loveland, OH, Alice Miller of Dayton, OH, and Rev. Rodney (Pat) Puckett of Richmond, IN; numerous nieces and nephews and adopted daughter, Diana Koski Howard of Euless, TX.

Including her husband and parents, Nancy was preceded in death by two children: Wilma Jean Gant, and Earl Ray Davis; and five siblings: Mary Lee Banks, James Puckett, Dottie Peskin, Arthur Puckett, and Nora Sparks.

Her family will greet friends from 11:30AM to 1PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Church of Christ In Christian Union, 1709 Bellefontaine Ave., Marion.  Services celebrating her life will follow at 1PM, with Wes Craker officiating.  Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Humane Society, 9640 Co. Hwy 330, Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
