Larry Franklin McKinniss, 82, of Caledonia

Larry Franklin McKinnissLarry Franklin McKinniss, age 82, of Caledonia, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Marion General Hospital. On March 3, 1934, he was born to the late Darrell W. and Maude Lena (Erwin) McKinniss in Hawks, Ohio. On June 21, 1953, he married Donna Joy Brewer in Harpster, Ohio.

Larry was a farmhand, and he worked at Morral Companies for 14 years before retiring. In 1952, he graduated from Marseilles High School in Wyandot County, and he went on to become a Boy Scout leader and a 4-H advisor. He was a member of Jugs Corners, the Ohio State and the National Grange, and he became a devoted volunteer of the Friendly Hills Grange Camp Service in 1972. He was a friend of the Peace Community United Church of Christ and a renowned fixer of all things.

He is survived by his wife Donna McKinniss of Caledonia; his son Ernie (Eldonna) McKinniss of Edison; his daughters Victoria (Rick Bingley) Adams and Valerie (Mark) Schrote of Marion; his brothers Sherman, Sheldon, Arnold, Mont, and Tim; his sisters Hilda, Ella, Carol, and Ruth; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Darrell, Jr., and Merrill; his sisters Audrey and Connie; and his great-grandson Mitchell Shirley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Peace Community United Church of Christ. Services will be held directly afterward at 4 PM. Burial will follow at the Little Sandusky Cemetery in Little Sandusky, Ohio. The family requests that attendees avoid wearing black, as Larry preferred bright colors.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Community United Church of Christ and the Ohio Grange Charitable Foundation for the Friendly Hills Grange Camp. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
