Aljean M. Powell, 81, of Marion

Aljean M. Powell, age 81 of Marion, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

Aljean was born on May 24, 1935 in Charleroi, PA, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Karnes) Turner. She was a graduate of Harding High School. Aljean was a loyal Buckeye; she worked for the university for over 35 years in a variety of jobs at the OSU Marion Campus, she was a loyal fan and also was very involved with the OSU Alumni Association. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed being a collector of various memorabilia.

She is survived by her devoted nephews: Barry Joseph (Debara) Tinnerello and Joseph V. (Julie Flugga) Tinnerello; beloved great nieces and nephews: Chadwyck Tinnerello, Lindsay Collins, Joseph Tinnerello, Mia Tinnerello, Sofia Tinnerello; 6 great great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and dear friends.

Aljean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ronald Powell and her sister Alma A. (Joseph) Tinnerello and her beloved boxer, Lance.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 West Center St. from 5PM to 7PM; A Celebration of Aljean’s Life will immediately follow with Celebrant Mark Schuring officiating. Guests coming to honor Aljean are encouraged to wear OSU attire.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the OSU Alumni Association.
