Clifford V. Skivers, 79, of Marion

Clifford V. Skivers, age 79 of Marion, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 25, 2016 at Heartland Nursing Home.  He had been sick a long time with Parkinson Disease and Alzheimer’s.

He was born December 16, 1936 to the late Clifford E. and Lucy (Draper) Skivers in Athens County, Ohio.  He was the last of 8 children.

Clifford retired from the Whirlpool Corporation in 1992.  He graduated from Harding High School with the class of 1956.  On February 15, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou, and they had 58 years of marriage.

Clifford is survived by his wife: Mary Lou Skivers; one son: Mark Skivers of Bloomington, IN; two daughters and one son-in-law: Joyce Dutcher, Melanie Jill and Scott Rayburn all of Marion; two grandsons: Michael (Angela) Skivers of Marion and Nathan (Noel) Dutcher of Westerville, OH; three granddaughters: Amanda Jones of Marion, Natalie Skivers and Kimberly Skivers of Indiana; four great grandchildren: Haleigh Jones, Brayden Jones, Maleigha Jones of Marion, Aiden Dutcher of Westerville, OH and little Amelia Dutcher coming in November; one great –great grandson: Greyson Hicks; many special nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law: Kenneth Palmer Sr.; one sister-in-law: Jenny (Elbert) Russell of Kentucky.

Preceding Cliff in death are his parents; five sisters: Virginia, Elizabeth, Pauline, Stella and Shirley; two brothers: Larry and Teddy; two brother-in-laws: Walter Pryor and Christopher Green; one grandson-in-law: Jeremy Jones; three nieces and two nephews; and one dear son-in-law: Don Dutcher.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 28, 2016 starting at 6pm to 8pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be held on Thursday September 29, 2016 at 11am at the funeral home.  Burial will follow after service at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Online condolences can be expressed to the family at: www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
