Dalani B. Harris, 37, of Marion

Dalani B. HarrisDalani B. Harris, age 37, of Marion, died peacefully Tuesday evening, September 6, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends following a nearly five year battle with cancer.

On October 25, 1978, Dalani was born in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of David Warner and Yolanda (Bacalla) Warner.  She graduated from Bedford High School in Bedford, Michigan.

Shortly after school, while working at Target, Dalani charmed one of her co-workers with her smile, Gregory Harris.  They have shared their lives together ever since, moving to Marion in 2004, and getting married on November 14, 2008.  Also, the apple of their eyes is their beloved daughter, Gwen.

After moving to Marion, Dalani was proud to earn her registered nursing degree from Marion Technical College.  For many years, she loved serving as a registered nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, on the Med Surge floor (3rd floor).  Not only did she care about her many patients, but she developed special friendships with everyone she worked with.

Having a lifelong love for music, Dalani enjoyed playing the piano and it helped soothe her during her most challenging days with her health.  She also was a “health nut,” who loved jogging and yoga to stay fit.  She also looked forward to planting a garden every year.

Special in so many ways, Dalani will especially be remembered for her smile that would light up the room.  She also had a soft spoken and easy going way about her, and a very kind and caring heart.  Most important of all to Dalani was her daughter, Gwen, whom she cherished every moment with.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gregory Harris; daughter, Gwen Harris; mother, Yolanda Warner; father, David Warner; brother, David Warner; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and many dear friends from Grady Memorial Hospital and Streetwise Motors.

Her family will greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Services honoring her life will follow there at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dalani Harris Scholarship Fund, to help pay for her daughter Gwen’s education, and they can be sent to the funeral home.
