Joanna M. (Boler) Cunningham, age 85, of Lakeview and formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home in Lakeview (Indian Lake) surrounded by loved ones.
Joanna is survived by her husband of 65 years, James “Jim” Cunningham. She is also survived by six children, William (Kathy) Cunningham, Sr. of Lakeview, Nancy Nemeth of Marion, Theresa “Tina” Marshburn of Lakeview, Trudy (Larry) Harrison of La Rue, Beth (Don) Basinger of Lakeview, and Merrie Jane (Keith) Skaggs of Greenup, Ky; sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Lowe of Florida and Betty (Bill) Whetro of Nebraska. Joanna has 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
JoAnna was preceded in death by parents John and Violet Boler, sisters, Barbara Jean Bracy and Nancy Jane Lore; brother, John Melvin Boler and three grandchildren, Jack Daniel Nemeth, Shon Michael Skaggs and Keith Alan Skaggs, II.
Joanna was a member of St. Mary Church, Marion, American Legion 584 Auxiliary, and attended St. Mary School and graduated in 1949. She lived a long and full life. No one was a stranger in her home. Joanna loved her family, bingo and cards. She was a homemaker, parent, and grandparent. She was loved by all and everyone.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W. Center St., Marion, from 2 until 5 pm. A 10 am Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, September 26, 2016 at St. Mary Church, 251 N. Main St., Marion, with Father Ryan Schmit officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Joanna’s honor to St. Mary Catholic Church, Marion or Universal Hospice of Logan County.
