Ray Edwin Price, age 87, passed away on Tuesday August 30, 2016 at Kingston Residence of Marion.
Ray entered this world on December 14, 1928 to the late Cecil and Genevieve (Jones) Price in Gallipolis, OH. On March 28, 1948, he married the love of his life, Chloris June (Mink) in Gallipolis, OH.
Ray proudly served our country in the United States Army. After his time in the service, he became a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and belonged to the American Legion Post #584. Ray served as a coach for over 20 years for the Baseball for Youth and coached the Nazarene softball team. You could find Ray enjoying being on the “chain gang” at the Harding Football games for a number of years. He won many awards for his craftsmanship as an upholster and finisher for Howison and Howard where he was employed for 50 years before retiring in 1996. For the winters, Ray and Chloris enjoyed traveling to Florida where he enjoyed fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. As many know, Ray was an avid “selfish Bluegill” fisherman and outdoorsman. Even though he has won many awards and made numerous friends, he was fondly proud of two accomplishments: Making Jesus His Savior and His Family. Ray really loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-children, who will miss you dearly and he loved His Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers.
Ray went to his eternal home to prepare for his wife: Chloris Price; one daughter: Janie (Bill) Justice of Marion, OH; one son: Donald (Barbara) Price of Caledonia, OH; three grandchildren: Joni (Jeffrey) Snodgrass, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Price and Randi (Christopher) Fondren; six great-grandchildren: Jordyn Snodgrass, Madilyn, Raegan and Paisley Fondren and Ruby and Trevor Price; and one sister: Phyllis Plymale of Gallipolis, OH.
Friends and family can visit on Thursday September 1, 2016 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home starting at 6pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday September 2, 2016 at 11am at the First Church of the Nazarene of Marion with Pastor Steve deWeber officiating. Burial will follow after the service at the Marion Cemetery where the United Veteran Council will perform a military service on honor of Ray’s service in the Army.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Church of the Nazarene for the “Good Samaritan Fund”. Online condolences can be expressed to the family at: www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
