Virginia I. Spicer, 87, of Morral

Virginia I. SpicerVirginia I. Spicer, age 87 of Morral, passed away Sunday September 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia was born on Tuesday April 30, 1929 in Marion, the daughter of the late Harold D. and Nellie R. (Spitler) Schultz and sister of Robert H. and Richard A. Schultz.

Virginia married a handsome young man by the name of Donald Spicer in Russell, Kentucky on October 23, 1948.  Together Donald and Virginia raised two wonderful sons and enjoyed nearly 68 years of marriage.

Virginia had worked as an Assistant Manager at McDonalds and later as a supervisor for the J-Lenco Company. She also had time working at Huddles Dixie Cream as well as the Islay’s Dairy.

She was an active member of the both the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 162 and the Ladies of the Moose Lodge #885.  Virginia was a devoted member of the Salt Rock Fire Department. She went through fire training, drove the trucks and always made sure the firefighters were taken care of. She chaired the Fireman’s Festival for years.

Virginia will be deeply missed by her husband; sons: Ronald E. Spicer and Larry A. (Teri Austin) Spicer, grandchildren: Melinda Jo (Greg) Jones, Scott Joseph Spicer, Blake Andrew Spicer, Holly Michelle (Jim) Grove and Tyler Jay Coldwell; and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be held Thursday at the funeral home at 11AM; Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salt Rock Fire Department.
