Charlotte S. Starcher, 62, of New Bloomington

Charlotte S. StarcherCharlotte S. Starcher, age 62, of New Bloomington passed away Wednesday October 12, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Charlotte was born on Saturday November 14, 1953, to the late Carson and Betty (Geigi) Barnhart in Jackson County, Ohio.

She was a 1972 graduate of Elgin High School.  While attending elementary school she met a handsome young man by the name of Darrell Starcher, who stole her heart.  On Friday, November 5, 1971, Darrell and Charlotte were married.  Together they enjoyed nearly 45 years of marriage and raised 2 wonderful sons.

After high school Charlotte attended and graduated from the State Beauty Academy and worked for many years as a beautician.  Even though she loved her job Charlotte knew that she had more to give.  She took on the challenge and became a correctional officer with the Ohio Reformatory for Women.  She transferred to Marion and worked for several years at the North Central Correctional Institution before transferring next door to the Marion Correctional Institution.  During her career Charlotte saw the good and the bad in people, but she never let that get her down.  She was dedicated to the service she provided provided.  She climbed through the ranks and upon retirement in 2013 Charlotte had achieved the rank of Captain.

In her time away from work she enjoyed gardening and watching cooking shows.  Above all she loved spending time with her family and adored every chance she got to spoil her grandchildren.  Charlotte truly was one of a kind and had a heart of gold.

Charlotte will be dearly missed by her husband Darrell Starcher; sons Darrell (Gina) Starcher II, Darick (Tiffanie) Starcher; grandchildren Cy Starcher, Brody Starcher, Logan Starcher and Cayson Starcher.

She was greeted at heaven’s gates by her loving parents.

Charlotte’s family will greet friends on Friday October 14, 2016, from 6pm to 8pm at the Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home located at 347 West Center Street, Marion.  Services celebrating her life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday October 15, 2016, at noon with Pastor Josh Hause officiating.  Burial will follow in Larue Cemetery.

If desired memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Methodist Hospital in honor of Charlotte.
