Margaret “Peggy” Druce, formerly of Marion

Margaret “Peggy” Druce was born in Westville, New Jersey.

She was the tenth and last child born to William Henry Quigley and Elizabeth (nee, Hill) Quigley.

Before she graduated from Collingswood, New Jersey High School she met her future husband, Albert Edward Druce, Jr at a skating rink.  Soon after graduation she and Al were married on January 1, 1943.  Her husband was a member of the United States Army Air Corps who left for duty in Panama for the duration of the War.  Peggy enlisted in the United States Women’s Marine Corps where she worked in the Navy Post Office.  At the end of the war they were reunited and began a family.  Their son, Glenn, was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1947.

Al’s work at the Whirlpool Corporation brought the family to Ohio; first to Hamilton in 1960 and then to Marion in 1962.  Once in Marion, Peggy volunteered at the MARCA School and at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church where she directed the Altar Guild for many years.

The past two years Peggy lived with her son, The Rev. Canon Glenn Edward Druce in his home in Las Playas de Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.  She died at the Veterans’ Medical Center, La Jolla, San Diego, California.  She was preceded in death by her nine siblings and her husband.  Her life will be remembered by the Community of Saint Paul’s Cathedral in San Diego where she has been a member for the past two years.

A Celebration of her Life and Holy Eucharist will be celebrated Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 197 East Center Street, Marion.  The Rev. Canon Glenn Edward Druce will officiate.   Her ashes will be interred next to those of her husband.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Marion are honored to serve the Druce Family.  Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
