Robert George Lane Sr., age 96, of Marion passed away early Saturday afternoon at Marion General Hospital.
Robert was born on March 3, 1920 to Earl and Edna (Plotner) Lane. He married the former Virginia Fryman who preceded him in death as did a daughter; Penny Butcher,his brother; Earl Lane Jr. “Bub” and 3 sisters; Evelyn Holcomb, Edna Pearl Crowe and Jean Gruver.
He was a millwright by trade and a hard-working man who enjoyed his beer and spending time with his family. He was also very handy and loved to build things including the home that he lived in.
He will be sadly missed by his children; Robert (Linda) Lane Jr., Priscilla Hodges, Jenny (Ralph) Freeman and Lois (Roger) Crist, his three sisters; Esther Clark, Nellie Columber and Mary Jessie, his three brothers; Gerald Lane, Floyde “Butch” Lane and Donald Lane as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM and 6:00 – 7:00 PM at which time funeral services will begin. Burial in the Claridon Cemetery will be Thursday at 11:00 AM
