Thomas Christopher “Tommy” St. Germain, 60, of Marion

Thomas Christopher “Tommy” St. GermainThomas Christopher “Tommy” St. Germain, age 60, of Marion, died Sunday, October 2, 2016.

On September 20, 1956, Tommy was born, one of 3 children of the late John and Isabelle (Abraham) St. Germain.  Tommy was a native son of Marion and a real Buckeye, prickly on the outside, but soft inside. Those who knew him would laugh at his stories because he always had a funny way of telling you what happened. He would imitate the voices of the characters in his stories, like his Aunt Anne, his dad and others. He always made us laugh and sometimes he made us cry.

When he was young, he was always very enterprising and found numerous ways to earn money. He would go down alleyways looking for scrap metal to sell to the junk yard. He even went around to the bars shining shoes and would give most of the money he collected to his dear mother. He found petrified wood and amber and sold it to a local geologist. Tommy mowed lawns and even had a paper route.

Shortly following high school, Tommy enlisted to serve in the US Marine Corp, where he served from 1974 to 1978.

Upon his honorable discharge, Tommy returned home to Marion, where he worked as a prison guard and later as a handyman.

Tommy always had a love for God and Jesus in his heart.

Very physically fit despite problems with chronic pain and PTSD from the Marine Corp., Tommy always enjoyed working out.  He loved going to the YMCA, riding his bicycle and practicing martial arts.

Despite his strong exterior, those who knew Tommy knew he had a huge heart, and he especially loved his daughter and son.

Tommy was very intelligent and had so much potential, but too few opportunities or encouragement from his early upbringing to realize it. He was unique and will never be forgotten.

He will be very deeply missed by his two children: Sarah St. Germain and Sampson Jacob St. Germain; his beloved sister, Annabelle St. Germain and her son, Alexander Serrano-St.Germain; former brother-in-law and his wife, Anthony and Sherella Smith; the mother of his children, Jennifer Smith; half-brothers Shane Harper St.Germain and Michael John Keith, nephew Russell Keith and several very close friends including, James Funk and Robby McVay. His ex-wife, Marysue Blevins, a nurse, also remained a close and loving friend throughout his life.

Including his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his brother John and half brother Daniel Keith.

Services honoring Tommy’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at 4 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Homes, DENZER CHAPEL, 360 E. Center St., Marion, where military honors will be provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council.  Friends may visit prior to his services from 2 – 4 p.m.  Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
