Harold James “Jim” Holcomb, Jr., age 77, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born December 3, 1939 in Marion, Ohio to the late Harold James, Sr., and Evely Mae (Lane) Holcomb. Jim proudly served his country in the late 1950’s in the U.S. Army. Jim married Marsha Susan Smith on December 3, 1960 who survives at home.
Jim was a hardworking man, he was employed at Sims Brothers, Marion Metal and later retired as a foreman at Todco Overhead Doors after becoming ill. He was a past member of The Marion Moose, Eagles, and American Legion Post162.
Jim will be missed by his wife, Marsha; children, Tamela Timmons, James (Linda) Holcomb, Tracey (fiancé, Rob Lambert) Rudd, adopted granddaughter, Kira Banks who he raised as a daughter, and Sally Hopkins who he called his daughter. Additionally he is survived by grandchildren, Kira (Jon) Banks, Shane (Jen) Holcomb, Karen Marie Haggard, Brandon (Laura) Maze, Tristin (Breanna) Maze, Mackayla (TT) Maze, Dakota Rudd, Ashton Rudd, Charley Rudd and Keith Malone; and sisters, Evelyn Grate and Joann LeMasters along with 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Jim was predeceased by parents, Harold and Evelyn; grandson, Kamryn M. Banks; brother, Jerry Holcomb, Sr.; mother-in-law, Genevieve C. Smith, brother-in-law, Merle Grate, son-in-law, David Timmons, Jr., and nephew, Larry Grate.
The family will greet friends at Snyder Funeral Homes, GUNDER/HALL Chapel, 347 W. Center St. Marion, on Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 2 until 5 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11 am with Pastor Tom Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to his family.
