Janet Arlene Culp, age 89 of Marion, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at her residence. On August 20, 1928, she was born to the late Aubert M. and Mabel M. (Lhamon) Smith, and on August 10, 1945, she married her husband Paul Edwin Culp, who preceded her in death on November 13, 1975.
Janet was a devout woman of the Christian Faith, and she spent more than 25 years working as a janitor at Quaker Oats.
She is survived by her son Michael Lynn Culp of Marion; her daughter and caregiver Jane Ann Freeman (Jayme’s mom) of Marion, her daughter Barbara Ruth Chatlain of Flower Mound, Texas, Lisa Paulette Culp of Marion, and Laura Elizabeth Culp, the UPS lady and her caregiver, of Marion; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Edwin Culp, her son Dennis Lee Culp, her brothers Hugh Vance Smith and Harley Smith, and her sisters Roberta Reardon and Julia Lewis.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
