Richard P. “Dick” Lowry, Jr., age 73 of Marion and formerly of Worthington, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at Heartland of Marion.
He was born on June 25, 1945 to Richard P. and Carmella (Britz) Lowry, Sr. He was a 1963 graduate of Marion Catholic High School.
Dick worked as an electrician for 18 ½ years for the railroad. He then went into the automobile business where he worked as a salesperson, finance manager, new car sales manager and rental department manager. While in the auto business, Dick found time to dabble in the restaurant business, managing restaurants in Youngstown and Columbus.
While in Marion, Dick coached football and track at St. Mary and Marion Catholic and was involved in the startup of Marion Midget Football. After leaving Marion in 1970, Dick continued coaching football and also played semi-pro football for 3 years for the Youngstown Hardhats. Dick also owned a semi-pro team in Worthington, OH.
Dick is survived by his children: Angela Borland and Thomas (Paula) Lowry; their mother, Nina (Nicolosi) Williams; step-daughter Aimee Sisinger; sisters: Carole (Pat) Taylor and Pamela (Tom) Kokott; niece Toni McNamara; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Susan (Dickens) Lowry; and son Richard P. Lowry, III.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Snyder Funeral Homes, GUNDER/HALL Chapel, 347 West Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at St. Mary Catholic
Church, 251 N. Main St. Marion at 10AM.
