Theresa J. Sokaski, lovingly known as “Monga” by her great-grandchildren, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Marion Manor surrounded by family. Theresa lived most of her life in Jefferson moving to Marion 12 years ago to be close to family.
Theresa was born November 1, 1931, to the late Anthony and Angela (Bochentin) Okray in Cleveland, here she attended school graduating in 1950.
Theresa married Joseph Sokaski in 1951; together they raised two children, and tended to their farm in Jefferson. While living in Jefferson, Theresa also worked as a clerk at the local U.S. Post Office, retiring in the 1970’s. After Joseph’s death in 2004, Theresa moved to Marion to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren, and, the pride of her life, her great-grandchildren, who were known simply as the “little ones”.
She will be missed for her feisty and well-spoken personality by her children, Laurie (John) Shore of Marion and Thomas (Barb) Sokaski; grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Sokaski, Courtney (Dan) Cook, Paul (Jill) Shore, David (Ashley) Shore, along with her 6 little ones, and her sister, Beatrice Okray
Per Theresa’s request there will be no calling hours. A private family gathering will be held at a later time.
