Carol S. (McCoy) (Stambaugh) (Yost) Rinehart, age 85 of Marion, passed away peacefully, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, under the care of Ohio Health Hospice, on October 1, 2018.
Carol was born at her home near Salyersville, KY on May 19, 1933, to the late Garland C. and Mandy (Gullett) McCoy. After she graduated from the Salyersville High School, she moved to New Albany, IN where she went to work at Indiana Bell Telephone Company, as a long-distance Telephone Operator. She transferred to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and her husband Martin Stambaugh served in the Air Force. She moved to Marion in 1955, where she worked at the General Telephone Company for 13 years. She then graduated in Accounting from Tri Rivers and worked for the Marion Power Shovel as a Cost Accountant for 15 years.
In December 1951 Carol and Martin were married, in the First Baptist Church of Ft. Worth, TX. Carol and Martin enjoyed 32 years together, until Martin passed in June of 1982. They attended Green Camp Baptist Church, where she was a member for 57 years. Carol was known as the “Flower Lady.” She enjoyed growing flowers and furnishing the church with them every Sunday, as well as passing them on to the ladies of the church and shut-ins that couldn’t make it to services. She was a charter member of the Hicks and Chicks Western Square Dance Club as well.
Carol remarried in March 1985, to Kenneth Yost of Wintersville, OH. They were blessed with 17 years of marriage, before his passing in May 2001. Their days together were spent traveling in their motor home; spending summers in Marion and winters in Harlingen, TX. In TX, they were members of the Sunshine Church and the Sunshine Square and Round Dance Club. Many hours were enjoyed playing golf as well.
Carol was blessed once again by marrying and uniting with long-time friend Walter Rinehart, of Prospect, OH in October 2004. They enjoyed 11 years together, until his passing in June 2016. They spent many hours growing flowers and gourds and were members of the Ohio and American Gourd Societies. At the gourd shows, they displayed gourds that Walter carved and/or made into bird houses. They attended Green Camp United Methodist Church together.
Besides her parents, Carol was proceeded in death by her three children Gerald Wayne, Judy Kay, and G.C. Stambaugh, and her sister Bernice Conley.
