The Crew concludes its two-game home-stand this Saturday, August 25, by hosting the New England Revolution at Crew Stadium. It will be “Dollar Night” at the stadium as the ever-popular Bob Evans’ Buck-a-Brat Night and Dollar Draft Night, presented by Budweiser, are combined.
All fans will be able to enjoy juicy, full-size Bob Evans Bratwursts for just $1 throughout the game and those of legal drinking age will be able to enjoy Bud and Bud Light drafts for $1 at select locations until the 45th minute.
Saturday’s match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be televised live regionally in high definition on FOX Sports Ohio, with Dwight Burgess and Duncan Oughton calling all the action and Ashleigh Ignelzi reporting from the sidelines. The game can also be heard in English on News/Talk 610 WTVN and on-line at TheCrew.com with Neil Sika and John Bluem on the call, and in Spanish on La Mega 103.1, with Carlos Cordova and Benny Pietrangelo behind the microphones.
The Black & Gold (9-8-6, 33 pts.) enters the match on the heels of capturing the Trillium Cup with a 2-1 win over Toronto FC last Wednesday, Aug. 22. Eddie Gaven scored his second goal in as many games and Designated Player Federico Higuaín marked his Crew Stadium debut with a goal and an assist in the match. The Crew will look to carry the positive momentum into Saturday night as it continues to climb back into playoff contention.
This is the second of three meetings between the clubs with the Crew and the Revs battling to a scoreless draw at Gillette Stadium last June 16. Since facing the Crew, New England (6-13-5, 23 pts.) has posted a 1-5-4 record with the most recent result being a 0-0 draw at Chicago last Saturday, Aug.18. The Revs have also acquired Honduran Olympian Jerry Bengtson on July 5, and parted ways with longtime captain Shalrie Joseph who was traded to Chivas USA on Aug. 1 in exchange for University of Akron product Blair Gavin and allocation money.
Next, the Crew continues its busy stretch of seven games in three weeks with a visit to PPL Park in Chester, Pa. to face the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday, August 29 at 8 p.m. The Black & Gold returns home the following Saturday, Sept. 1, to host MLS expansion side Montreal Impact at Crew Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
