Seniors Tayler Hill and Amber Stokes scored 17 and 13 points, respectively, as No. 16/17 Ohio State dominated from the beginning in an 82-52 win over Wright State Sunday afternoon at Value City Arena.
The win is the fourth straight for the Buckeyes, who won their 25th consecutive game at home – the third longest active streak in the country. The loss drops the Raiders to 3-2.
Hill added five steals to her game-high 17 while Stokes added six assists – one off her career best. Ashley Adams added eight points in her first game back from a leg injury as did Maleeka Kynard, who sank two 3-pointers off the bench.
Overall, all 13 players who saw action scored for the Buckeyes, including Cait Craft who saw her first action of the season, draining a 3-pointer on her very first field goal attempt as a Buckeye. Darryce Moore added six points and four rebounds while Aleksandra Dobranic played a solid game off the bench with six points and three rebounds in 14 minutes.
Ohio State opened the game on a 9-0 run, led 13-2 at the first media timeout and never looked back. The Raiders never got closer than nine points throughout the first half as the Buckeyes took a 42-25 lead at the half.
The Buckeyes kept the pressure on the Raiders in the second half, slowly swelling the lead to 30 points, 67-37, with 8:37 left on a steal and layup by Hill. Ohio State led by as much as 34, 77-43, with 4:40 remaining.
Ohio State’s defense forced 22 WSU turnovers and held the Raiders to just 31 percent from the floor.
Kim Demmings led Wright State with 17 points while Ivory James added 11.
Ohio State is back in action this Wednesday when its heads to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
