Ohio State righted the ship and recorded its first Big Ten victory with a 68-45 win over visiting Indiana tonight at Value City Arena.
Tayler Hill led four Buckeyes in double-figures with 15 points and eight rebounds as the Buckeyes improved to 1-4 in the Big Ten and 11-7 overall. Indiana falls to 10-7 and 1-3 in the Big Ten.
Ohio State led by six at halftime, 30-24, but opened the second half on a 17-6 run to take a 47-30 lead with 13:28 left. Darryce Moore, who finished with 14 points and six rebounds, had six points during the deciding second-half run.
Indiana pulled to within 14 on a 3-pointer by Nicole Bell, but that would be as close as the Hoosiers would come. Two free throws and a 3-pointer by Hill at the 4:31 mark gave the Buckeyes their largest lead at 62-37.
Ohio State’s defense held Indiana to 31 percent shooting in the second half and 16 percent from 3-point range. Indiana’s leading scorer, Aulani Sinclair (19.6 ppg) scored just five points and was 2 of 15 from the field.
Ashley Adams and Aleksandra Dobranic each finished with 10 points while Ameryst Alston turned in another solid all-around game with seven points, seven assists and eight rebounds.
Jasmine McGhee had 17 points to lead Indiana, which shot just one free throw for the game (0-1).
The Buckeyes hit the road for the fourth time this month Sunday when they take on Wisconsin in Madison. Game time is 3 p.m. ET.
