Fahey Bank has announced the May Athlete of the Month winners are Macy Holston of River Valley and CJ Flach of Elgin. The June Athlete of the Month winners, Hannah Campbell and Quinn Levering of River Valley, are both repeat winners of the award.
Macy Holston, a senior at River Valley, won the May Female Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month. Macy set a River Valley long jump record this season with a jump of 18’ 1”. Macy also ran the 100 meter dash, the 400 meter relay, and the 800 meter relay. During the month of May Macy had 4 wins at the Marion County Track Meet, 4 wins at the MOAC Track Meet, a win in the long jump at the District Track Meet, and advanced to State in the long jump where she was named All Ohio.
Honorable Mentions were Hannah Peltier of Pleasant, Kendra Benson of Elgin, Arielle Anderson of Ridgedale, Lexi Northrop of Marion Harding, and Emily Aurigemma of Marion Catholic.
CJ Flach of Elgin was the May Male Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month. CJ pitched 32 innings for the Comets baseball team and struck out 20 batters. CJ also excelled offensively batting .542. CJ helped lead the Comets to wins in two tournament games through his outstanding all around baseball.
Honorable Mentions were Cy Penry of River Valley, Drexler McColly of Pleasant, Kyle Goings of Marion Harding, Matthew Schuler of Marion Catholic, and Andy Meddings of Ridgedale.
Hannah Campbell, a junior at River Valley, won her fourth Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award with her June win. Hannah bettered her school record in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:55.09 at the District Track Meet. Hannah qualified for the State Track Meet in both the 3200 meter run and the 3200 meter relay. At the State Meet, Hannah had success. A school record was set in the 3200 meter relay with a time of 9:44.1 and Hannah placed 2nd in the 3200 meter run.
Honorable Mentions were: Kendra Benson of Elgin, Paige Kightlinger of Marion Harding, Bekkah Slob of Pleasant, Carli Swisher of Ridgedale, and Emily Aurigemma of Marion Catholic.
Quinn Levering, a senior at River Valley, captured the June Male Athlete of the Month award. Quinn had an outstanding senior track season. He won both the shot put and discus events at the MOAC Track Meet (setting meet records) and the District Track Meet. Quinn won the Regional Meet in the shot put and placed 4th in the discus to advance to the State Track Meet in both. The State Track saw Quinn on the podium for both events; with a 2nd place in the shot put with a throw of 59’ 1 ¼” and the discus with a 6th place effort of 167’ 8”.
