Tryouts for the 2014 Marion County Shock competitive youth baseball and softball travel teams will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 for baseball and on Sunday, July 28, 2013 for softball. Tryouts will be held at Waldo Community Park located on West Main Street in Waldo, Ohio.
The schedule for tryouts can be found on the organization’s website at marioncountyshock.org.
Marion County Shock teams compete in the Central Ohio Youth Baseball League for baseball, as well as three to five tournaments each season. For softball, teams compete against other teams throughout central Ohio via individual and tournament games.
The Marion County Shock is a non-profit, volunteer organization of eleven baseball and softball teams for ages eight and up. Bill Davis, Marion County Shock President, says the group believes players realize many benefits from its travel baseball and softball programs including learning fundamentals, improving physical fitness, enhancing self confidence, developing respect for others, learning to value teamwork and contributing to a team effort, developing good sportsmanship, learning how to win and to deal effectively with losing, making new friends, and enjoying the great games of baseball and softball.
In addition, Davis says teams focus on community involvement each season via community service events designed to instill a sense of giving back and community pride in each player.
