The Fahey Banking Company has announced the October Athletes of the Month for 2013 are Kayla Radcliff of River Valley, Matt Green of River Valley, and Chase Kelly of Pleasant.
Kayla Radcliff is a junior cross country runner for River Valley and the Fahey Bank Female Athlete of the Month for October. Kayla had a strong finish to the end of the season running the 5k race in 20:09 at the Marion Harding Invitational, a 19:44 good for second place in the MOAC Red Conference meet, and then a 19:33 at both the District meet and the Regional meets. The 19:33 at the Regional meet was fast enough to qualify for the State Cross Country meet.
Honorable Mentions were Brittany Davis of Pleasant, Jace Wolf of Elgin, Carli Swisher of Ridgedale, and Olivia Davis of Marion Harding.
The Male Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month goes to both Chase Kelly and Matt Green. Chase Kelly, of Pleasant, led the team in rushing yards and as a team captain. Chase finished the season with 1,035 rushing yards as a running back. However, when Pleasant was on defense Chase excelled as a linebacker who had 78 tackles just in the month of October.
Matt Green led the River Valley football team this year from the quarterback and kicking positions. Matt’s statistics for the month of October include 325 rushing yards, 294 passing yards, kicking 11 of 12 on points after touchdown, and averaging 37.4 yards per punt.
Honorable Mentions were Isaiah Mason Clark of Elgin, Joshua Wallace of Marion Harding, and Zach Stayner of Ridgedale.
