No. 24 Georgia closed the game on a 22-9 run over the final eight minutes to notch a 67-59 comeback victory over Ohio State Wednesday night at Value City Arena.
The Buckeyes fall to 1-2 with the setback while Georgia remains undefeated at 3-0.
Freshman guard Kelsey Mitchell scored a game-high 26 points with 21 of them coming from beyond the three-point arc. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native was 7-of-14 from long range and didn’t score a bucket inside the arc until 2:09 left in the game. Mitchell also grabbed a season-high seven rebounds.
Junior Cait Craft made a career-high five three-pointers on the night and finished with 17 points. Between Craft and Mitchell, the duo scored 43 of the team’s 59 points.
Fellow jumper Ameryst Alston had an off night shooting the ball, totaling just five points but she pulled-down a career-high 13 rebounds.
Four Bulldogs finished in double-figures led by Tiaria Griffin’s 16 points. Krista Donald finished with 12 points and six rebounds while Mackenzie Engram notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Buckeyes relied on its outside shooting as they were 13-of-39 in the game beyond the arc and just 8-of-22 inside the arc.
After missing on all five of her three-point attempts last game, Craft made two of her first three shots from beyond the arc tonight to give the Buckeyes an early lead.
