Local Scouts Training for Backpacking Trips

Several Boy Scouts in Troop 100 completed their fifth ten mile hike on June 12 at Mohican State Park. In addition to training for large backpacking trips, the boys are working on their hiking merit badge, a required badge for the rank of Eagle Scout. Each boy are required to hike five ten mile and one twenty mile day hike along with several other requirements to earn the badge.

Prospect Area Boy Scout Troop Begins Summer Activities

Troop 100 of Southern Marion County has begun its 2010 summer events schedule. Any boy ages 11 – 18 are welcome to join in on the adventure at any time no matter where they live.

The events planned include camping one weekend per month, hiking one Saturday per month, Thursday Night Bicycle Tours, Zip line tour in Hocking Hills, fishing trips, Boy Scout Summer Camp the week of July 11, and much more.

Flag Day Ceremony in Marion

A Flag Day ceremony, hosted by Marion Elks Lodge 32, will be held at Founder’s Park in on Church Street in downtown Marion at 6:30 pm on Flag Day, Monday, June 14th. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Sheriff’s Office Explorers Holding Rummage Sale

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Explorers will be having a fund raising rummage sale on June 5th from 7am to last item sold at Mallard Square. Items can be donated by the public on June 3rd and 4th from 5pm to 7pm by bringing them to Mallard Square. Items can also be donated for pick up by calling Deputy Amy McDonald at (740)223-4180.
