Ohio State Marion students awarded nearly $5000 in grants to area charitable organizations through fundraising efforts in 2012, while gaining knowledge on the framework of “Paying it Forward.” Thanks to increase support, the program expects to donate even more funds next year.

Organizations Come Together to Send Kids to Clippers Game

Several organizations came together to provide 22 Marion children a special day of baseball and memories. Thanks to their generosity, the Boys & Girls Club of Marion County members got to experience the Columbus Clippers game as part of Marion Day on Sunday, May 20.

Marine Raises Thousands with 10-mile Run

A local marine on leave before being deployed to Afghanistan said he isn’t special following his 10-mile run on Friday to raise money for Boys & Girls Club (BGC) of Marion County. Others who spoke at a brief ceremony disagreed with his assertion and expressed pride for his unselfishness.

Local Marine to Complete Grueling Run for Local Kids

As if serving his country wasn’t enough, Marine Corporal Brandon Makowski says he wanted to find a way to give back and help local kids.  The Waldo native came up with the idea of collecting pledges for him to complete a long-distance run during his Pre-Deployment leave. This is not your ordinary run; he will complete a 10-mile trek from Waldo to Marion with a 50-pound rucksack on his back.

Marion Boys & Girls Club Invites You to Go the Distance

The Boys & Girls Club of Marion County is inviting everyone to “Go the Distance” for local kids and join them for their 5k Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Proceeds from the run/walk will help the non-profit group in their efforts to provide assistance to children in Marion.

Donation Helps Ready After-School Program

The Boys and Girls Club of Marion County says they are thrilled to receive a $1,500 donation from the Marion Community Foundation to use towards purchasing supplies needed for the upcoming after-school program.

The Boys & Girls Club of Marion County was recently nominated among a handful of 37,000 non-profit organizations statewide for the Ohio Nonprofit Excellence Award.

The organization was nominated specifically for their Project Learn program, which is dedicated to strengthening and enhancing the academic and social skills learned throughout the school day.

Annual Garage Sale to Benefit Mentoring Group

Heart of Ohio Mentoring is having their annual garage sale on Thursday, June 17th and Friday, June 18th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Items large and small, furniture,(including a roll top desk), housewares, collectibles, and much more.
