Marion Rotary Awards $20,000 in Scholarships

The Marion Rotary Foundation recently awarded a combined $20,000 to thirteen hard working students, representing all of the Marion area high schools, with scholarship checks to help defray their college education expenses.

Tri-Rivers’ Seniors Honored For Work

The Tri-Rivers Career Center (TRCC) 2010 Senior Recognition was recently held at the historic Palace Theatre in downtown Marion. The theatre was filled with the seniors, their families, Tri-Rivers staff, Board members and staff from the associate schools served by the Career Center.

“Stuff The Bus” With School Supplies For Local Kids

Heart of Ohio Mentoring, the NAACP, and United Way are teaming up for Stuff the Bus May 17th through June 18th. Together, they are asking Marion County residents to help stuff busses full of school supplies to help children in Marion County start the next school year ready to learn.

Video Highlights National Robotics Challenge In Marion

The National Robotics Championships were in Marion late last week. The annual event brings hundreds of students from all over to compete in various challenges involving robots.

The challenges involved all types of tasks, including running obstical courses, practical applications, sumo, and even hockey.

Free Career and Education Fair at Marion Campus

Students, alumni, and members of the area community are invited to attend the Marion Campus Career and Education Fair, Tuesday, April 20, 2010. To date the event has approximately 50 area employers, education agencies, colleges and universities signed up to participate.

Pleasant Holding Open Enrollment

The Pleasant Local School District Open Enrollment for the 2010-2011 School Year has begun. Applications will be accepted until Monday, June 28, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.

Applications will be available in the Administrative Office, 1107 Owens Road West, Marion, Ohio. All application/enrollment material must be obtained from the office of the Superintendent.

The Marion Rotary Club recently hosted the annual Four-Way Test speech contest, for area scholars.

MTC, Heidelberg Sign New Partnership

Heidelberg University and Marion Technical College have sealed the deal on an agreement that they say will allow MTC students a seamless transfer to Heidelberg with a new dual admission and transfer partnership.

Administrators from both institutions gathered at Marion Technical College on Thursday to sign the articulation agreement, the fourth such partnership established between community and technical colleges and Heidelberg.
