World’s Largest Buckeye Necklace to Benefit Cancer Research

Invokause, a non-profit organization that specializes in developing creative programs for charitable initiatives, has created a unique program – Buckeyes For A Cure – to support the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.

Outing and Auction Set for Marion GOP

The Marion County Republican annual Summer Outing and Auction is Thursday, August 12 at All-Occasions Catering, 6989 Waldo-Delaware Rd., Waldo, will feature an array of items available through silent and verbal bidding. Items include 4 sets of  Ohio State University football tickets, Columbus Clippers club seat tickets, and an autograph book by John Kasich, GOP candidate for governor.

Poker to Benefit Local Schools

The Marion County Athletic Boosters is holding a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on August 7. The buy-in will be $40 and the winner will receive at least a 34-percent payout. The top 10 players will be paid based on 200 players.

bluefusion Celebrates 2nd Birthday with Fundraiser

bluefusion entertainment is celebrating their second year of business. The family entertainment center opened their doors in August of 2008.

To celebrate bluefusion is throwing a birthday bash on Saturday, August 14th from Noon to 6:00 pm. The celebration will take place in the Marion Plaza Parking lot as well as inside at bluefusion.

Biker Run to Benefit Local Child

Brandon was born weighing 2 lbs. 7 oz. with Cerebral Palsy and given a 20% chance to live. Brandon is in a family of bikers and has dreamed of his own sidecar so he can be a part. To achieve this goal, Brandon will need his side car to have adaptive seating as well as a way to keep him cool so he does not dehydrate.

Spaghetti Dinner Raising Funds for Cancer Research

On Tuesday, August 3, a spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Baire's Deli, 131 South Main Street in downtown Marion.

Marion Eagles Holding Benefit Night

Marion Eagles Lodge #337 is opening their hearts and doors to hold a burial relief benefit to help the Wise family with a huge financial obligation. Peggy Wise passed suddenly on July 16, 2010.

The event is July 31 from 7:00 pm until midnight and is open to the general public.

Ridgedale Fundraiser Postponed for Memorial Service

The Ridgedale Athletic/Music Booster Drive scheduled for Saturday July 31 has been postponed until a later date. 

A puplic memorial service for Jane Watts will be held Saturday, July 31, 1:00 pm at Ridgedale High School.

Commissioner Holding Re-Election Fundraiser

Josh Daniels is holding a fundraiser for his re-election campaign for Marion County Commissioner. The event is Thursday, July 29, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Circa Bar on North Main Street in downtown Marion.

Group Donates Over $4,000 for Hospital Equipment

Marion General Hospital's TWIG VII recently donated $4,190 toward the purchase of a Biostep semi-recumbent elliptical machine. Benefits of the machine include zero joint impact, large seating area, step-through design, integral contact and polar telemetry heart rate monitoring, and large easy to display features.
