This free screening allows area residents 18 years and older to be checked for diabetes, free of charge, while remaining in their vehicles.

State Confirms 2012’s First Human Case of West Nile Virus
Ohio's first human case of West Nile virus (WNV) in 2012 was confirmed today by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), which also reported a sharp increase in the number of WNV-positive mosquitoes. A case of WNV encephalitis was confirmed in an 85- year-old man who is hospitalized in Clermont County.

Dancing in the Park to Promote Exercise as Being Fun
In honor of National Dance Day, Edye Cook's School of Dance is hosting "Dancing in the Park" on Saturday, July 28, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Their goal is to promote dance as a form of exercise and have a lot of fun at it in Busby Park at the corner of West Center and South Prospect Streets in downtown Marion.
Red Cross Issues Emergency Call for Blood Donors
The American Red Cross says national blood supplies have reached emergency levels with 50,000 fewer donations than expected over the last month across the country. This shortfall leaves the Red Cross with half the readily available blood products on hand now than this time last year.

The Salvation Army, 317 West Church Street in Marion, is having another free produce market on Friday, July the 6th from 11:00am until 1:00pm. You must be able to sign an income eligibility form. Remember to bring bags or boxes.
Red Cross Opens Emergency Shelter and Cooling Station in Marion
In response to storms of June 29th, the Marion County Chapter of the American Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter and cooling station at the Chapter located at 1849 Summerset Dr. in Marion. The shelter and cooling station opened at 1:00 p.m. Saturday and will remain open until further notice. Persons wishing to use the facility are asked to call the Chapter prior to arriving at 740-725-9141.
