TV, Electronics Recycling Collection Set for Saturday

A television and electronics recycling collection will be held on Saturday, August 11, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Computers, monitors, cables, keyboards, hard drives (guaranteed data destruction), stereos, televisions, cell phones, batteries, cameras, game systems, fax machines, copiers, video players, speakers, and other such electronic devices will be accepted.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Offering in Marion

Rid your home of toxic waste at the DKMM Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day this Saturday, June 2nd, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Whirlpool Corporation on Marion-Agosta Road. All residents of the DKMM (Delaware, Knox, Marion and Morrow) Solid Waste District can take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of corrosives, flammables, and poisons such as household cleaners, pool chemicals, batteries, kerosene, automotive fluids, pesticides, propane cylinders, fertilizers, mercury, and ammunition (50 calibers or less).

Over 180 lbs of Pills Collected at Medication Drop Off

Rain and hail did not stop Marion County citizens from driving to the back of the Marion County Building on Center Street Saturday to get rid of unused medication as part of the area’s fourth Medication Disposal Day. Angela Carbetta, Director of Recycling and Litter Prevention noted that a wide range of items were turned in including liquids, syringes and needles, pills, medicated jell and patches.

Properly Dispose of Your Old Medications at Free Drop Off

Marion County Recycling and Litter Prevention, Marion-Crawford ADAMH, Marion General Hospital, along with officers from Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, and MARMET, are teaming up for Medication Disposal Day, a part of National Take Back Drug Day, on Saturday, April 28, 2012. The day includes a drive thru drop off, providing a convenient way for local resident to safely dispose old prescription medications and medical supplies.

Green Awards Given for Environmental Efforts

Angela Carbetta, Director of Marion County Recycling and Litter Prevention, handed out several Green Awards at Thursday’s Marion County Commissioners meeting. The Commissioners also issued a proclamation in honor of Earth Day, which is Sunday, April 22.

Several Marion Events Planned Around Earth Day

Earth Day is April 22 and there are several events planned for Marion to celebrate, learn, and clean up. Events include a Downtown Marion clean up, concert fundraiser, inter-faith breakfast, kids’ activities, electronics recycling, paper shredding, and more.
