Police Arrest Suspect in Armed Robbery

The Marion Police Department made a quick arrest following an armed robbery on Monday, June 24. The arrest was made thanks to the willing help of an alert resident.

Marion Gas Station Robbed at Gun Point

The Marion Police Department says the BP gas station at 1070 Mt. Vernon Avenue was robbed at gun point Monday, June 25. Officers responded to the scene at just before 10:30pm.

Dog Collar Stolen from Harding Home

The Marion Police Department is investigating a break-in at the Harding Home. Police say a dog collar made for President Warren G. Harding’s Airedale Terrier appears to be the only thing taken. This is the first such incident to have occurred at the Harding Home in at least the last 20 years.

Police Arrest Man with Sawed-Off Shotgun

The Marion Police Department arrested a man with a sawed-off shotgun at a downtown bar after the man allegedly robbed a person just one block away.

On Sunday, June 10, at 12:31am, officers responded to the 140 block of South Main Street to investigate a report of a man being robbed at gunpoint by a subject brandishing a sawed-off shotgun. The suspect fled southbound from the area after getting a small amount of cash from the victim.

Paulus Wanted for Burglary

The Marion Police Department is looking for Patricia A. Paulus on an outstanding warrant. Paulus is a 56-year-old white female with blonde hair and green eyes. She is 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighs 120 lbs. Her last known address was 465 South Main Street.

Council Denies Bringing Back Officers, Will Discuss Tax Increase

The Finance Committee of Marion City Council met Tuesday and once again denied a request to bring back police officers. The committee said they will begin discussions on asking City residents to approve a tax to pay for safety forces, either through an income tax increase or a property tax.

Smith Wanted for Three Warrants

The Marion Police Department is seeking Leo Smith for three warrants. He is a 51-year-old black male with black hair and brown eyes. He stands 6-feet 4-inches tall and weighs 205 lbs. His last known address was 429 Oak Street.

Police – Man Found Drowned at Marion Park

The Marion Police Department says a Marion man was found dead Saturday, May 12, 2012 from an accidental drowning while fishing at Quarry Park.

Police received a 911 call on Saturday at just after 10:00am saying a person had been found face down in the water at Quarry Park, 1202 Hillman-Ford Road.

Two Gun Shot Incidents Reported in Marion

The Marion Police Department says there were two reports of gun shots in Marion on Saturday, May 12. No victims have come forward and police are still investigating leads.

Police – All Four Home Invasion Suspects Now in Jail

After an extensive investigation, the Marion Police Department says the fourth and final suspect involved with the home invasion and stabbing at a Monroe Street residence, which occurred on April 30, is now in custody. Those arrested are also suspects in other armed crimes in Marion.
