The Marion Police Department says they arrested a 20-year-old man this week following a lengthy investigation of a home invasion that occurred on April 30, 2012 which resulted in the stabbing of an elderly man.
Officials Urge Caution Before Re-Hiring Police Officers
While one Marion City Council member pushed Monday to re-hire two police officers, the mayor and other council members urged a wait-and-see strategy before spending any potential increase in tax revenues. No other member of Council or the administration supported re-hiring the officers, or anyone else, at this time.
Police Arrest Two During Home Invasion
The Marion Police Department says they arrested two teenagers in the act of a home invasion early Tuesday, May 1. Officials say the pair threatened to kill the 93-year-old woman residing in the home.
Over 180 lbs of Pills Collected at Medication Drop Off
Rain and hail did not stop Marion County citizens from driving to the back of the Marion County Building on Center Street Saturday to get rid of unused medication as part of the area’s fourth Medication Disposal Day. Angela Carbetta, Director of Recycling and Litter Prevention noted that a wide range of items were turned in including liquids, syringes and needles, pills, medicated jell and patches.
Man Stabbed During Marion Home Invasion
The Marion Police Department says a man was injured during a home invasion early Monday, April 30. Investigators say at just before 2:00am, four suspects entered a home on Monroe Street and demanded money and narcotics from the homeowner.
Marion Officers, Deputies Capture Murder Suspect
The Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office assisted the West Jefferson Police Department in locating a man wanted for questioning in a murder that took place Monday, April 23.
Marion Drive-Thru Robbed
The Marion Police Department says a local drive-thru was robbed at gunpoint late in the evening on Tuesday, April 23. Officers responded to General Sales Drive Thru, 450 Jefferson Street, at 10:13pm and say the suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money from the clerk.
