Recognized Autism Expert to Discuss Treatment and Research

Just within the last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta released alarming statistics that autism is more common than previously thought, burdening as many as 1 in 88 children, which equates to roughly 1 million U.S. children and teens.

Marion Campus Prairie Plant Sale is Saturday

The Larry R. Yoder Prairie Nature Center will hold their eighth annual Prairie Plant Sale on the first floor of Morrill Hall, Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Ohio State Marion campus, 1465 Mount Vernon Avenue. Once you enter the campus, follow the signs for the sale and for parking.

Week of Events Planned for OSUM’s International Festival

The Ohio State University at Marion will host its 5th Annual Taste of Culture International Festival on Wednesday, May 9, from 4:30pm to 8:00pm, at the Alber Student Center on the Marion campus. There are also several events planned leading up to the Taste of Culture.

Dino Talk in Downtown Marion

Ohio State Marion’s Science Café, a free monthly community discussion on topical issues of science, welcomes Dale Gnidovec, curator of the Orton Geological Museum at The Ohio State University to downtown Marion’s Infinity Restaurant, 267 West Center Street, on Tuesday, May 1, 7 p.m. to present a discussion entitled, Teeth, Jaws, and Claws:  The carnivorous dinosaurs and why birds are dinosaurs.

Targeted Tutoring Offered for ACT Test

The I CAN Center of Excellence, a regional college access program, recently added a new initiative to their programs designed to help young people improve access to higher education and higher education funding.

The group’s new ACT Targeted Tutoring Program is a customized 12-hour workshop, designed to provide prospective college students personalized guidance toward improving their ACT test scores.

Counselor to Talk Dating, Relationships on Marion Campus

The Ohio State University at Marion welcomes Annette Franks, M.Ed., LPC to campus, Thursday, April 19, at noon, in Morrill Hall, Room 290.  Franks will present a free program entitled "The Art of Dating & Creating Healthy Relationships.”

Partners Hope to Make Marion a Robotics Center

Could Marion become a center for robotics education and training? That’s the ultimate goal of local businesses and education centers who unveiled their plans to create a robotics education center located at Tri-Rivers Career Center. The center hopes to provide needed skilled labor and put Marion on the map for robotics training.

Nearly 30% of Ohio State Marion students are considered non-traditional, learn how to join this growing number by attending a free public information seminar the evening of April 19th.

The Ohio State University at Marion Office of Admissions & Financial Aid will hold a free public information seminar Thursday, April 19, from 6-8:30 p.m. to assist prospective non-traditional college students on learning the ins and outs of returning to the classroom and pursuing a college education.
