Aqua Ohio, Inc. (Aqua) has announced three new water line replacement projects in the City of Marion with combined project costs of $425,000. The projects involve the replacement of 3,335 linear feet of aging, undersized water mains and related infrastructure.
Construction Will Mean Temporary Water Service Interruptions
The Marion Division of Aqua Ohio (recently acquired from Ohio American Water) is working with the City of Marion to improve water system infrastructure during planned construction by the City over the summer. The City is improving its sewer system under Oak, Robinson and May Streets. Because these projects involve open cuts into these streets, Aqua says they are taking advantage of the opportunity to install aging infrastructure to help improve the water quality, pressure, reliability and fire service in the area.
State Route 4 Construction Delayed Until Monday
The Ohio Department of Transportation says road work planned for State Route 4 on Friday has now been moved to Monday, April 9, because of some issues with the equipment. ODOT says motorists using State Route 4 between State Route 423 in Marion County and US 33 in Union County should plan extra time for their commute.
Community Effort Results in Bike Lanes, Sidewalks for State Route 95
After receiving over 60 comments from Marion residents regarding a project to improve safety on State Route 95, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has made changes to their plans, including the addition of bike lanes and some sidewalks. Over half of the comments received specifically address those two issues.
Marion Street Closing for Sewer Repairs
Park Street, between Short Street and East Mark Street, will be closed from 7:00 am Tuesday, June 29, through 5:00 pm Thursday.
The City of Marion Sewer Maintenance Department will be doing repair at this location.
US 23 Lane Closure Begins Monday
Starting Monday, June 28, US Route 23 will be reduced to one lane in each direction in various sections between Linn-Hipsher Road and the Wyandot County line. The closures will be from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm for pavement repair. The work is expected to be completed by July 9.

State Touts Jobs Provided Through Construction Projects
With President Obama in Columbus last week to mark the 10,000th Recovery Act road project in the nation to get underway, preliminary figures from the Ohio Department of Transportation show that nearly 7,000 construction workers had jobs on Ohio’s stimulus-funded transportation projects in May – earning $8.5 million in paychecks in a single month.
Portion of State Route 98 Closed Monday
The Ohio Department of Transportation says State Route 98 will close between State Route 309 and Ulsh Road starting at 7:00 am on Monday, June 21, for railroad repair. Work is expected to be completed on June 25.
